Hot Child in the City

There's this deal my stylist & I have: if it's bold, outlandish & over-the-top ... then it's just my style. Back again at Vice Versa, that certain stylist says, "J-New, I'm feeling like there's going to be a jumpsuit in here for you somehow!" So, see, you can now fully appreciate why we jumped up & down when I spied this:

Outfit: vintage from Vice Versa / Earrings: Calypso by Julie Collection / Sunglasses: desperate replacement pair while in Atlantic City and I keep wearing them / Rings: purchased at 5th Ave Street Fair / Shoes: Talbots
Styled by: Amy Keller

(And, p.s., this is the song that plays in my head while wearing this)

Be My Echo

I love a quick transformation, so when I discovered how easily a gorgeous scarf - like this Twin Tigers Silk Scarf from Echo - could be turned into an ever-so-chic halter, this happened:

Top: Twin Tigers Silk Scarf by Echo (tied as a halter) / Skirt: Joe Fresh / Earrings: Key West by Julie Collection / Wristwear: Multi-Stud Gold & Nude Wrap + XL Buckle-Up White Leather bracelets by Wanderlust + Co. / Watch: family timepiece / Shoes: Nine West (old)

And thanks to Liberty London, here's the fabulous scarf-tying how-to:

Getting Juicy!

A few months ago, Team Newman invested in a juicer - a Cuisinart 1000W 5-Speed Juice Extractor to be exact! It pretty much changed our world. Green drinks (and juicing in general) is definitely on-trend these days ... but there's good reason for buying into it: juicing aids in alkalizing pH levels, boosts immunity, helps with weight loss and fights fatigue. This is my favorite recipe, and I always find this drink refreshing and delicious!

Team Newman's Green Drink

4-6 large kale leaves (with stalks)
3-5 romaine leaves (with stalks)
1 cucumber (peeled)
2 stalks celery
1 large handful of parsley (flat leaf or curly, stems included)
1 lemon (halved)
1 large green apple (halved)
1" piece of fresh ginger (unpeeled)

Process each of the ingredients through your juicer on the suggested speed (consult your owner's manual if necessary). Produces approximately 24-32 ounces of fresh juice (depending on your juicer). Juice should be enjoyed immediately, or sealed in mason jars (or other airtight storage glasses) for no more than 24-hours to preserve best nutritional value!

Happy juicing, and happy health!

My affinity for jumpsuits and all things Trina Turk is no secret. Put them together with a statement necklace and a bold lip, and I'm sold. My stellar stylist signed, sealed and delivered it just like this:

Summer Sweet Treats

Not only is it officially summer, but New York City is officially a blaze with a heatwave! (Well, at least for a couple of days, that is.) And about the time it's legal to wear white shoes after Easter, I feel compelled to eat frozen treats - after all, nothing makes a gal feel more youthful than popsicles and gelato ... so I thought I'd share two of my favorites:

Popsicles:
I have been smitten with the delicious treats at people's pops, both at Chelsea Market (where I devoured the Strawberry Ginger) and at their brick & mortar store in Park Slope (where I devoured Raspberry Basil). Don't worry if you're not in the neighborhood of one of their local NYC jaunts - you can now make their recipes in the comfort of your very own kitchen. Their new book (under the same name) is now available. Perfect for the coming summer months!

Gelato:
Once you've tried Talenti Gelato, you won't want any other brand. Whether you dive into a pint of Sea Salt Caramel, Tahitian Vanilla Bean, or Belgian Milk Chocolate, you will be head over heels! Their sorbetto is equally as delicious (and naturally dairy free). But when I found out about their newest flavor, Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup, I may have almost shed tears of joy! Wondering what makes it all so delicious? Check out this video featuring founder Josh Hochschuler:

With these treats, you are sure to have a very happy summer!!

The Wrap Dress

There is nothing overrated about the power, look, feel and fit of a DVF wrap dress. When I found this vintage version of her iconic silhouette, I audibly squealed, immediately purchased it, and proudly added it to my collection.

After all, a lady can never have too many DVF wrap dresses.

And, p.s., there is no substitute.

Heart Thoughts for the Weekend

My lovelies, are you as excited as I am about the weekend?! Tomorrow is devoted to some exciting new features coming soon to Delightfully Dishy. Sunday is doubly special as it's Father's Day for the best dad ever, as well as our girl's First Communion. All of that with some sunshine in our merry Slope ... count me in!

I've been reading Louise Hay's Heart Thoughts (thanks to my incredible Aunt Jeannine), and I want to leave you with this affirmation to ponder over the next couple of days:
"Work on doing what is right for you and getting in touch with your own inner voice. Your inner wisdom knows the right answers for you."
Try and take at least 5-minutes this weekend to center yourself and remember how special, invaluable and amazing you are. The best lifestyle is that which is rooted in and around your personal truth, true self and your inner beauty. The rest is just gravy!

Here's to a wonderful weekend!

Father's Day Fun!

Celebrating Dad on Father's Day may sometimes be tricky when it comes to gift-giving. If Dad doesn't golf, doesn't grill or doesn't have a "traditional" hobby, you may be coming up short with what to give him this year!

Here are some fabulous DIY ideas with the kids in mind that will make Dad feel as special as he truly is!

Art from the Heart

Who doesn't love art? And when it comes from your very own kids, is there even a question? Whether you choose to do this scrappy self-portrait or watercolor silhouette, Dad gets an original masterpiece! As much as I love photography, I also couldn't help but love the "D-A-D" photo triptych. What a wonderful way to capture your child or children at any age.

Details for Dad's Desk

Whether Dad works at an office, or has one at home, you cannot go wrong with any of these personalized touches to add to his space: the note cube, coasters or pot are great for kids to design at any age.

Presentation is Everything

No matter the gift, you can equally personalize the presentation! Try your hand at these adorable paper airplane cards or have the kids make their very own wrapping paper

I'm quite confident Dad's going to be the first one to fly his paper airplane card across the room ... after all, aren't Dads the biggest kids of all?
